Rolling Thick-Wall and Large-Diameter Steel Tubes
Large, thick-wall carbon and alloy steel tubes need more torque than standard tube rollers deliver. Use a large-tube electric roller or a hydraulic tube roller.
Common causes
- Tube size and wall need more torque than the tool can deliver
- The operator cannot hold the reaction torque steadily
How to diagnose
- Compare tube OD and wall with the tube roller's rated range
- The tool stalls or slows sharply during rolling
How to fix it
- Φ45–Φ159 mm thick-wall tubes: DZ-C large-tube electric tube rollers
- High torque or hazardous areas: HD series hydraulic tube rollers
- Rolling and flaring in one pass: F series flaring expanders
- Use a balancing arm or reaction arm to take the reaction torque
